I would have reported on this earlier had I not been travelling, but Civilization Revolution has gone free in the App Store for today and today only.
Some of you may recognise Civilization from the widely popular PC franchise. For those of you that don’t, Civilization is a strategy game that could probably be best described as a blend between Risk and Sim City. You take control of a civilisation and develop them through history to reach military, cultural, economic or technological dominion. The games start simple but are remarkably deep and never fail to be completely and utterly addictive.
The iPhone version normally sells for $6.99 (£3.99, I believe) in the App Store. I’ve been playing it and it seems watered down, but overall a nice port to the phone that should satisfy fans of the series and be good enough to intrigue a few newcomers. It has a four-star rating off 1,000+ ratings in the UK store.
