Fruit Ninja Goes Multiplayer

Game Center just gained a lot of cred.

Fruit Ninja, one of the App Store’s most popular games, has released version 1.4. And it’s got a multiplayer mode for Game Center!

Don’t have Fruit Ninja? You should. It’s one of the most well designed, addictive pick-up-and-play games the iPhone and iPod Touch can boast. If you do have Fruit Ninja, then you know how big of a victory this is for Game Center’s momentum going forward.

I haven’t had a chance to play the multiplayer yet, but it looks awesome. It’s a head-to-head with fruit split between both players. You’ll gain points from slicing your fruit, and lose points for slicing your opponents. And to keep things competitive, there are neutral fruits which give points first-slice-first-serve style. If this is as epic as it sounds, it’s going to add that extra competitive zing to an already incredible game, and will elevate Fruit Ninja from an iPhone great to the elite leagues of mobile gaming.

Game Center must be glad to have it on its roster.
