Out of nowhere, it seems, Rockstar have announced Grand Theft Auto 5, with a trailer coming our way next week.
Earlier today the company updated the front page of their website to the image above, and the internet exploded. Soon, the news was up on all major gaming websites and sparked three trending topics on Twitter.
No details of the game have been released yet, but then, there don’t really need to be. GTA is one of the biggest franchises in games and will move units by the millions almost regardless of where the game is set or how it turns out.
The series is one of the most controversial in the history of gaming, and has been in the headlines many times as the scapegoat of tabloid media over the years. But the series has remained dear in the hearts of fans regardless.
I have to be honest, I’m having a hard time getting excited for GTA V as I’ve always found the games, while undeniably revolutionary, a bit boring. But there’s no denying that the games are a huge hit with most gamers and this announcement is huge news for the industry.
iLeetism will try to keep updated with GTA V news as Rockstar releases more details.
